You Know This - Let's Go Chargers (clap clap clap clap clap)

Good work boys!

My sister Krista and her husband Ryan are HUGE Chargers fans. So, today was a great day for them! I enjoy the Chargers, but I don't care enough to actually watch their games or pay any attention to the score. But I do have to say, it was an exciting victory! Plus, I got this jersey in my Christmas stocking, so I had to represent!

Sorry Kurt, but I just look better in a Chargers jersey...nothing personal!

You Know This - My Dad Makes Better Pies Than Your Dad

For our Christmas gift exchange at work this year we decided to make each other t-shirts. Then we had to wear our shirts all day long at Knott's Berry Farm. Here are a few pictures...

Kurt had me. He made me a shirt that says, "My Dad Makes Better Pies Than Your Dad." For very obvious reasons, my dad LOVES this shirt! So we took a few fun pictures together this weekend...

Oh, the best part of my shirt is that Kurt had messed up and accidentally ironed on the transfer backwards. So the back of my shirt is mirror image. And rather than starting over, he just put the text on the front... love it!

You Know This - Ice Princess

With the weather being too cold to go to the beach, we decided to replace Beach Monday with an Ice Skating Day! It was SO much fun!!!

The whole crew. Josh Treece had trouble staying on his feet!

Becka and I posing like these little girls who kept falling...super funny!

Our first run around the ice. I hadn't been ice skating since I was like 12, but I did pretty good for myself! Only fell once, and that was because Zack tried to twirl me.

Me and Becka...I really like her!

I almost fell like 3 times while trying to take this picture!

You Know This - The iPod Game

There's this fun game that we like to play in Saddleback Student Ministries that I like to call The iPod Game. Here's how it works: We pick a well known song on the iPod, give the sound proof headphones to the player, and they have to sing along as loud as possible. Fun times for all!

We played this game on our way to our Christmas Fun Day at Knott's Berry Farm. Here is a sample of my bossman, Kurt singing Paradise City...

The answer is no, he was not possessed!

You Know This - Let It Snow, Let It Snow, Let It Snow

We may not get actual snow here in Orange County, but this will do!

After the fireworks show at Disneyland, they had fake snow! It was SO amazing! And the firework show was unbelievable! I was in such awe that I accidentally got off the Small World ride on the wrong side. Embarrassing, but paints such a picture of my child-like wonder!

You Know This - Consider This Your Christmas Card

The Saddleback Student Ministries team made this Christmas video. Consider it my gift to you...

A fun game as you watch this video: Find Matt Hall in every group shot!

You Know This - Baby, Its Cold Outside

This morning I woke up to an old familiar sound: rain.

Hooray! It is finally winter! Well, at least for today...

You Know This - On the Rooftop, Shout It Out

Last night Zack took me to an HSM Christmas party thrown by one of my favorite volunteers, Chip. We drove up to LA and had dinner on the rooftop of his building...it was AMAZING! It felt like we walked onto a movie set!

After dinner, we headed to Hollywood and went to the Arclight Cinerama Dome Movie Theater and saw The Day the Earth Stood Still. Such a fun whirlwind of an evening!

You Know This - Saddleback - Santa Ana

The Wildside team headed up to Santa Ana yesterday afternoon to check out the latest regional campus...

For those of you who can't read the sarcasm in my writing, this is not true. Saddleback isn't really opening a liquor store.
That would just be silly.

You Know This - Movie Critic

I would never in a million years claim to be a movie critic. I don't think one can when some of their top pics include Dude Where's my Car, Bring it On, or any Hallmark movie. Having made this claim...

Last night we saw The Day the Earth Stood Still. My favorite part of the movie was when I closed my eyes and took a 5 minute nap. It wasn't awful, but it wasn't anything to write home about. In fact, I kept thinking, "I already saw this movie back in 1996 when it was called Independence Day." But I will say this for the film... great casting! Each actor seemed to play their perfect role.

Keanu Reeves: A stiff, emotionally void character who speaks in a slow whisper.

Jennifer Connelly: A slightly depressed single woman who is smarter than she looks but not pushy enough to get her way on her own.

Jaden Smith: A punky little kid who has trouble obeying but you can't help but want to love on.

Robert Knepper: An Army Officer from the south who doesn't take his own authority too seriously.

You Know This - The Doodler

My friend Tim is a great artist! He works on the graphics team here at Saddleback. A while back, he stopped by my office to say hello, but I wasn't there. So he left me this note...

So random, but fun! This is another one of my favorites...

If you get the chance, you should check out his blog.

You Know This - It's a Small World After All

Have you ever had one of those "small world" experiences? I had one just the other day! I was hanging out with one of my jr. high students' mothers and, as we got to talking, we realized that we had more in common than being loud and spunky. Here's how the conversation went down...

Me: Well, I'm just a little more cautious cause I grew up in Riverside.
Her: I grew up in Riverside!
Me: Really?! What part?
Her: Canyon Crest...
Me: I grew up in Canyon Crest! What high school did you go to?
Her: Poly.
Me: Shut up! I went to Poly!
Her: (screaming)
Me: What church did you go to?
Her: My dad's church. It was called Victoria Community...
Me: Shut up! I went to VCC! Who's your dad?
Her: Pastor Henley...
Me: SHUT UP! I totally know your dad! Do you remember Randy and Sue Johnson?
Her: OH MY GOODNESS! You are little Bethany Johnson! I knew you when you were like 3 years old!

So, for those of you who know, I was hanging out with Vicki Henley...now known as Vicki Phillips!

So crazy, but so fun!

You Know This - Crack Me Up

In Wildside, we allowed the students to ask questions for Kurt to answer during the service. I've already blogged about this, but then a special treat came our way! And this is why I love junior highers...

You Know This - Another BS CD

Another amazing CD release from Britney Spears! I don't care how old I am, I still LOVE Britney's awful music!

My favorite part is that there is always one song on each album that Britney should be ashamed of. And this CD is no different. She wrote a song called "My Baby" that I am assuming is for her children, but definitely does not gel with the rest of the album. Here are some other Britney gems...

Blackout - Why Should I be Sad
My Prerogative - all the remix songs
In The Zone - Brave New Girl
Oops...I Did It Again - Dear Diary
Baby One More Time - Email My Heart

You Know This - Reason #254...

Reason #254 why I enjoy Zack...
