You Know This - Bamana Who?

Today is my nephew Cameron's 6th birthday!

At dinner he told me this knock knock joke...

Cameron: knock knock
Bethany: who's there
C: bamana
B: bamana who
Cameron: knock knock
Bethany: who's there
C: bamana
B: bamana who
Cameron: knock knock
Bethany: who's there
C: bamana
B: bamana who
Cameron: knock knock
Bethany: who's there
C: bamana
B: bamana who
Cameron: knock knock
Bethany: who's there
C: orange
B: orange who
C: you're glad I didn't say bamana, huh?!

You Know This - 1 Month

Wow, what a great sermon this weekend! Pastor Doug did a great job keeping things upbeat while talking about how to determine what matters the most. Check it out...

You Know This - Paula Said It, I Believe It

You have black hair
I have blonde hair
You cry at the drop of a hat
I hate crying
You fall in love easily
I keep my guard up
You despise cheerleaders
I was the captain of my cheer squad
You have an amazing singing voice
I don’t
You like guys with beards and ties
I like guys with a little scruff and a hoodie
You love the smell of smoke
I cough when I see a cigarette
You love to dream
I love to analyze

And for all of our differences,
I know we are making each other a better person.
I love you tons, Allison, and I am so grateful for our friendship!

You Know This - April Showers

I love that when it rains in November,
it is called STORM WATCH 2007.
But when it rains in March,
it is considered a Spring Shower.

Oh California...you make me laugh!

You Know This - Creepy Baby

No offense to my pregnant friends, but that little creepy floating baby grosses me out a bit!

Don't get me wrong, I am very excited for your big day. But really?

Maybe I will understand some day.

You Know This - Name That Friend

Guess which one of my friends said this today...

"I only had one surprise in my whole life and I was wearing a Betty Boop shirt."

You Know This - James Marsden

How could someone I love so much...

...drive me so crazy?

You Know This - Ghost of Easter Past

Here are a few memories that I miss from Easter in the past...

Easter Egg Scavenger Hunt
My mom would put clues in our Easter eggs along with the candy. So we would actually use the clues to go around the house, search for the next clue, and eventually find our Easter baskets.

Easter Pictures
My mom would have my two sisters and I go in the backyard and take our picture. Without fail, the wind would blow and our Easter bonnets would go flying off our heads. And for one reason or another, I was always crying in these pictures.

Ribbon Dances
You could always count on a good ribbon dance during the Easter musical at VCC. Nothing says, "He is Risen" like a ribbon on a stick twirled in the air by a girl in a leotard.

Being an Extra in the Easter Musical
All of the children of the actual cast in the Easter musical got to play extras. My favorite (which now seems mighty blasphemous) was when we would shake our fists in the air and sing, "Barabbas, Barabbas, release to us Barabbas."

Joe Pratt
For some odd reason, my sisters and I believed that our neighbor, Joe Pratt, was the Easter bunny. Your guess is as good as mine.

You Know This - Optical Confusion

Look at the chart above and say the COLOR of the word, not the actual word itself. Try to say all of the colors in 20 seconds or less.

Why is it so difficult? Because the right half of your brain is trying to say the color, while the left side of your brain is trying to say the word.

Apparently I am very into learning more about the brain today!

You Know This - It's A Girl!

Good News... I'm a girl!

I found this quiz online that tests brain activity in order to determine the sex of your brain. Not gonna lie, I was minorly worried that my brain would be a boy. I tend to be good at more masculine activities such as playing nintendo and solving logic problems. But after about 20 minutes of identifying angles, and emotions, turns out my brain is a girl!

*** The link feature on my blogger is not working right now, but if you are interested in taking this test, just got to http://www.bbc.co.uk/science/humanbody/sex

You Know This - March Madness

For someone who could care less about college basketball, I sure have become addicted to March Madness! I wasn't even going to fill out one of these bracket things. But working with a bunch of boys, I've realized that if I want to be a part of any conversations over the next few weeks, I'd better pay attention!

Now that the games are going, I have found myself addicted to this whole fantasy sports world. In the last 2 days I have checked my bracket over 10 times. I keep asking my dad who's playing and who's winning. Not only have I been watching ESPN, but I've even yelled at the TV a time or two! Who knew that I would actually care!

*** For the record, I still fully support my Baylor Boys. But in my four years of attending Baylor basketball games, I found that we are pros at choking in the end. So that is why I didn't pick them.

You Know This - (Not So) Good Friday

I've never really understood why they call it Good Friday. Today marks the day that Jesus was mocked, beaten, persecuted, and killed. What an awful day!

But on the other hand, today marks the day that Jesus opened the door for us to live eternally with Him. He sent out the invitation for us to be a part of His family. He paid the price for all of our sins. He gave us the gift of knowing God fully. All that tragedy helped set the scene for the greatest miracle of all time. It symbolizes that no amount of pain or anguish can outdo God's grace and love for us. And that sounds pretty good to me.

I'm still not sure if I agree with calling it Good Friday, but I am very grateful for the significance of today.

You Know This - Starbucks Oracle

My sister Krista sent me this fun little link. It's completely untrue (at least I hope I'm not a clueless pothead whose friends all hate me), but minorly amusing nonetheless. Enjoy!

You Know This - Meet Mr. Mii-Yagi

So, I finally bought myself a Wii! I've been looking for one for a few months now and finally scored big time! Minus the fact that my left trapezoid is super sore from all that wii-bowling, it has be SO much fun!

Last night we spent our time creating some fun mii characters. We now have Allison, Josh, Bethany, Santi, Jessii, Caleb, and of course Oprah Wii-nfree and Mr. Mii-Yagi. My favorite by far was Mr. Mii-Yagi...

You Know This - Mixed CD Texas Style

As I drove from Austin to Dallas and back, I listened to a total of about 7 hours of the radio...completely entertained the entire time! It appears that the stations out there have not let go of the songs that came out when I lived there (2000 - 2004). I kept track of the early 2000's songs that I heard so that I could create my own Texas Trip Mixed CD. For your personal enjoyment, here is the playlist...

You Know This - Bad Girls

Allison, Alanna and I had so much fun teaching
the Bad Girls of the Bible series!

You Know This - Pop Fiction Prediction - Part 1

It's almost time for another rendition of Pop Fiction! For those of you who missed out on the season premiere, let me tell you a quick synopsis of what this show is all about.

Pop Fiction is another Ashton Kutcher show, much like Punk'd, only this time the celebs are turning on the general public! They are making up stories that normally show up in tabloids such as US Weekly and Star, and seeing if the paparazzi fall for it! Last week we learned that Paris Hilton's guru was really a biker from the San Fernando Valley and Avril Lavigne's baby bump was actually a costume. For the record, they both totally got me!

So, now that this amazing show is a part of my life, I've decided to start making my guesses as to which 2 stories will be aired on Pop Fiction. Here are my predictions for this week...

1. Howard K. Stern is suing E! over the idea for the show Pop Fiction, which he believes was originally thought up by Anna Nicole Smith.

2. Stev-O was hospitalized at a mental health unit in LA.

Which stories do you think are false?

Make sure you catch the show on E! on Sundays at 10:30pm.

You Know This - 100

This is my 100th post.

I'm not really sure why we have to announce the fact that we have hit 100 posts here in the blog world, but I do not want to make waves or disappoint anyone, so I am officially letting you know.

Instead of boring you with topics such as "Top 100 things about me" or "Top 100 lessons I learned this year" I am just going to give you some other Top 100 Lists. *PLEASE NOTE* I am not saying that I agree with or even support these Top 100 Lists. They are just a little something to facilitate a good chunk of your wasted time. I hope you enjoy at least 2 of them!

You Know This - Scratches

Two more reasons why I do not like cats...

You Know This - Confusing Buffalo

This post is in honor of one of my favorite people: Kyle Long...

I hope this is as confusing to you as it is to me...

"Buffalo buffalo Buffalo buffalo buffalo buffalo Buffalo buffalo" is a grammatically correct sentence used as an example of how homonyms and homophones can be used to create complicated constructs.

So, all that to say, the sentence
"Buffalo buffalo Buffalo buffalo buffalo buffalo Buffalo buffalo"
is the same as saying
"Bison from Buffalo, New York who are intimidated by other bison in their community also happen to intimidate other bison in their community".

Confused? Me too!

You Know This - Pop Fiction

Tonight Heather and I watched the series premiere of Pop Fiction on E. Oh my, it was SO funny! If you haven’t seen the show, you really should check it out!

You Know This - Confusion

What a confusing morning! I woke up to the alarm on my cell phone and started getting ready for church. When I was about 5 minutes out from being completely ready, Heather came in the room and asked me why I was up so early. I looked at the clock on the bedside table. It seemed that my phone had reset itself to be an hour too early. So I went back to bed. An hour later we headed out for church. We walked in mid-sermon and thought that we got the service times wrong. I wandered over to the guy at the café and asked what the service times were. As you can probably guess, we were an hour late! Stupid Daylight Savings! You got me once again!

You Know This - No Molestra Con Tejas

In about 4 hours I will be heading off to the great state of Texas. Most of my college friends live in Dallas, and it's been way too long since the last time I've gone to visit them.

Here are some things I am excited about...
- Hanging out with Heather
- Seeing Baylor's beautiful campus
- Taking my cousin out to dinner
- Hanging out with Brock Murphy
- Spending some quality alone time
- Renting a car
- Enjoying a delicious Kahlua Pig Swig from Common Grounds
- Spending some down time on the airplane

And here are some things I am not so excited about...
- Missing my friends back home
- The much colder weather
- Living out of a suitcase
- Having frizzy hair

This should be a super fun and relaxing trip!

You Know This - National Reading Day

Today was National Reading Day, so Dominik and I went down to San Diego and read to my sister's 3rd grade class. We got down there a bit early, so Dom and I decided to do a little shopping.

When we got to the school, the kids wanted to know all about the German. They asked him questions like, "How do you say GAS in German?" and "Do they have cars in Germany?"

Then I read to the class Bartholomew and the Oobleck by Dr. Seuss. At one point I accidently said, "green crap" instead of "green clouds"...oops!

All in all, a great day!
